How PSHAN and ADFHP will revolutionise Nigerian healthcare

Imagine walking into a healthcare facility with caring professionals that can assist you at an affordable cost.

Imagine having access to healthcare without having to travel far.

Imagine your peace of mind knowing that you and your family can receive quality primary healthcare.

These scenarios might seem unthinkable to many Nigerians. What if we told you that Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Programme (ADFHP), in partnership with the Private Sector Healthcare Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN), is making these dreams a reality.

ADHFP was established to address the growing healthcare concerns in Nigeria. Our objective is to establish a solid, comprehensive primary healthcare system to accomplish further advancements and reduce the gap in quality primary healthcare between rural and urban areas.

PHSAN and ADFHP: A stepping stone to better healthcare in Nigeria

Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede CON and PSHAN created ADHFP driven by the belief that Africa will continue to experience the burden of high disease mortality unless the state of healthcare systems at the primary level is addressed and improved.

The AHDFP forms part of PSHAN’s mission to strengthen health systems and improve healthcare access for all Nigerians. Healthcare should not only be accessible but reliable and affordable and achieving these goals for primary healthcare plays an integral role in the overarching success of the Nigerian healthcare system.

ADHFP’s goal is to launch one primary healthcare facility (PHC) in each of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas (LGAs) to provide low-cost health services to the poor and vulnerable at reasonable standards.

To date, 91 PHCs have been adopted. 44 by the Aliko Dangote Foundation, 23 by Aigboje Imoukhuede Foundati, 23 by Herbert Omyewumbu Wigwe Foundation, and 1 by Chigari Foundation.

The inception of ADHFP will result in:

  • Reduced mortality rate
  • New jobs and health-focused opportunities
  • Improved public sector accountability
  • Successful health policy reform
