PSHAN Officially Launches ADHFP

Join us as we take yet another bold step towards building a Nigeria where everyone has equitable access to quality and affordable healthcare. PSHAN is proud to announce the official launch of the Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Programme (ADHFP).

We will be ushering in a new dawn for healthcare on the African continent. This is the beginning of our journey as we strive to fix Africa’s healthcare problems, one Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) at a time.

After decades of seeing how much the African continent struggled with pandemics such as Malaria, Tuberculosis (TB), HIV and AIDS, and most recently, COVID-19, we came to the conclusion that there needs to be an initiative dedicated to improving our healthcare system. One that is championed by Africans, for Africans.

We planted the seeds of ADHFP three years ago. This launch is the culmination of years of hard work from all of our stakeholders, partners, and adopters. We want to use it as a launchpad to revolutionize our health sector and call for collaboration and support.

ADHFP: Our Vision for the Future

Through ADHFP, we aim to raise awareness and understanding of the current state of PHCs in Nigeria and the difference this initiative will make in the lives of everyday citizens.

The primary goal of ADHFP is to establish at least one world-class PHC in each of Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas. By establishing and revitalising PHCs, we aim to ensure health and well-being for every Nigerian and, eventually, every African.

ADHFP is the first of many high-impact programmes we plan to launch as we focus on addressing the healthcare needs of all Nigerians. This initiative will have several benefits, including,

  • Reducing mortality rates
  • Creating new jobs, entrepreneurship opportunities and health-focused start-ups
  • Improving public sector accountability
  • Female gender empowerment
  • Successful health policy reform

Malaria is a disease transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito. The severity of the sickness depends on the species of the parasite. Symptoms of malaria include; chills, fever and sweating, usually occurring a few weeks after an individual has been bitten.

In 2020, malaria threatened about half of the world’s population. Infants, children under five, pregnant women, and patients with comorbidities like HIV/AIDS and weakened immune systems are at a higher risk of malaria.
