The Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) is creating a sustainable future for healthcare in Nigeria
”Scaling up primary healthcare interventions across low and middle-income countries could save 60 million lives and increase average life expectancy by 3.7 years by 2030.” – WHO
For Nigeria to develop a more sustainable, resilient healthcare system, it must increase its sub-national capacity to prevent, detect and respond to disease on a primary level. Through its Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Programme (ADHFP), the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) and the Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Program have been at the forefront of this mission. The goal of this initiative is to establish at least one quality primary healthcare centre in each of the 774 local government areas (LGAs) and improve health outcomes in Nigeria.
Primary healthcare focuses on physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing. It addresses the majority of a person’s health needs throughout their lifetime. Primary healthcare guarantees that people receive high-quality, all-encompassing and practical care. It involves everything from prevention through treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care.
By establishing primary healthcare centres, healthcare is decentralised, providing all Nigerians with the opportunity to access affordable, equitable, and quality primary healthcare services.
“Strengthening primary healthcare is the first step in assuring our health security”, – Dr Adetifa, the director general of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
When primary healthcare systems are robust, patient monitoring becomes more accessible, and the quality of data collected is improved – allowing PSHAN to scale business prospects for private sector investments and ensure sustainable development for primary healthcare.
Achieving sustainability through decentralisation.
Building a robust national health security architecture relies heavily on the frontline response to healthcare. The disparity in healthcare results in limited access to quality care. Decentralisation can help relieve strain on the healthcare system and create space for service improvement by ensuring that the right health services are accessible at all levels.
The long-awaited launch of ADHFP is finally here!
The pre-pilot phase of our frontline initiative, ADHFP, has successfully launched. Through this initiative, we have successfully revitalised two key Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in Nigeria.
We are excited to announce our official upcoming ADHFP programme launch, where PSHAN will bring together some of the most innovative minds on African soil, giving attendees the exclusive opportunity to learn and network with them.
