USAID pays PSHAN a courtesy call – aimed at improving health outcomes in Nigeria
PSHAN’S STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC GROWTH AND ENVIRONMENT (EGE)- USAID FINDS EVEN MORE FORTITUDE.
Nigeria is Africa’s largest economy, yet its success isn’t shared equally. Seventy percent of Nigerians still live below the poverty line. Extending quality health care to the country’s large and diverse population is an enormous challenge. There are promising health organizations percolating in the marketplace, but many are still small in scale.
In the past five years, government leaders have been building public-private partnerships for roads, agriculture, and power but rarely has concerned themselves with healthcare and its outcomes.
As a not-for-profit, business-led organization founded to improve Nigeria’s healthcare system by providing accessible, affordable, and first-rate healthcare solutions to everyday Nigerians, PSHAN remains at the fore front of collaboration with the domestic and international development community to address inequities in access to healthcare services in Nigeria. This includes partnerships with The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In collaboration with Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede,
PSHAN has proactively developed the innovative Adopt-a-Healthcare-Facility Program (ADHFP) aimed at mobilizing smart capital to address inequities at the primary healthcare level. As part of efforts to harness the power of the private sector to work toward universal health coverage, the Private Health Sector Alliance of Nigeria is currently partnering and engaging with the United States Agency for International Development-(Nigeria Office) to accelerate healthcare indices in Nigeria.
Mr. Tunde Gbajumo, Deputy Chief Of Party at Nigeria Power Sector Program stated that achieving universal health coverage in Nigeria remains a joint effort involving citizens, leaders and private sector players to revamp accelerated investment in the health sector.
Also, Colin Dreizin, USAID Director for the Office of Economic Growth and Environment (EGE) reaffirmed that USAID remains committed to an evolving model of partnership with those they serve around the world. Stating that USAID recognizes creating sustainable health solutions for global challenges.
