Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo Endorses PSHAN’s Adopt-A-Health-Facility-Program (ADHFP)
Lagos, Nigeria – The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has praised the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria’s (PSHAN’s) Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility-Programme (ADHFP). In a recent two day summit titled “Reimagining Primary Healthcare in Nigeria”, Vice President Prof. Osinbajo acknowledged PSHAN’s role in building a truly equitable and accessible healthcare system through ADHFP.
The ADHFP is a multi-impact initiative created to establish world-class Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) across Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs). The Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) is committed to ensuring everyone in Nigeria has access to affordable, high-quality healthcare.
During the Reimagining Primary Healthcare in Nigeria summit, the Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, spoke of the need for collaboration between public stakeholders & private sector leaders towards a sustainable health care system in Nigeria.
The Minister of Finance coordinated an “hour of commitment” where leaders from the private sector were invited to support PSHAN’s Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility-Programme.
Landmark Commitments From The Summit:
- Alhaji Aliko Dangote made a personal commitment to adopt one PHC in all 44 LGAs of Kano state.
- The Founder & Chairman of The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, committed to adopting one PHC in each of the 19 LGAs in Edo State, with an additional four LGAs to be decided by the Honourable Minister of Finance who chaired the Commitment Session.
- The CEO of Access Bank Group, Mr Herbert Wigwe, committed to adopting one PHC in all 23 LGAs in Rivers State.
- Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, a co-founder of PSHAN and Global Director for Health, Nutrition and Population at the World Bank Group, also stated that he would be adopting one PHC in Misau LGA of Bauchi State.
“With a total of 91 PHCs adopted out of our target of 774, we have achieved approximately 15% of our target in one day, which marks an incredible stride,” said Dr Tinu Akinbolagbe, CEO of PSHAN.
If the poor state of Africa’s healthcare systems is not addressed, it will continue to carry the burden of high disease mortality. Through the ADHFP, PSHAN aims to solve these problems.
PSHAN is calling on leaders and private sector organisations to support improving health care in Nigeria. You can support PSHAN by either adopting and funding one PHC or by becoming a member of PSHAN through alternative donations to aid the infrastructures of the facilities we are building.
